Professional Development
RI Initiative Technical Assistance 2008-2009
The purpose of this assistance is to ensure that RI educators have the necessary knowledge and skills to implement, with fidelity, a responsive system of assessments, supports and interventions. Additionally, this technical assistance supports LEAs in the development of learning disability identification procedures using RTI data that meet the criteria outlined in state guidance.
The technical assistance consists of monthly day long professional development for district teams of 6-10 individuals. These sessions consist of a half day session on progress monitoring and using data. This provides a monthly opportunity for a district team to build their skills and be a resource for their district. The second half of the day includes sessions to be determined based on the needs of the region. The LEA level technical assistance consists of an additional day a month of direct assistance to districts. A detailed explanation of the technical assistance can be found in the Rhode Island RTI Initiative Technical Assistance Plan.
